This is a couple of cherry barstools I made recently.

Bottom has a woven hickory bark seat.
I cut the octagon legs free hand with a drawknife so as not to look machine made.
I think that we are so accustomed to the perfectly machined surfaces from the mass produced goods around us it’s nice to see something that has a little life left in it.

  1. I'd like to add that they are incredibly comfortable, sturdy and that the surfaces may be hand worked, but they are still as smooth as glass, especially the tops of the front legs. How'd you do that? Thanks Matthew!!!
